A Women's Retreat; Why you deserve one like this. Have you ever felt yourself slowly burning out—or maybe you’re already there? Like life just keeps moving, and you can’t remember the last time you truly paused? Not for errands, not for family, not even for rest—but for you?
As women, we often take on so much. Whether we're caregivers, providers, partners, moms, employees, business owners—or some combination of all the above—we tend to put everyone else first. We make sure dinner’s made, laundry’s folded, the house is running, the kids are cared for, and work gets done. Meanwhile, our minds are racing 70 miles an hour, constantly trying to stay one step ahead.
But when was the last time you reminded yourself that you’re doing a good job? That you deserve a moment to breathe? When did you last slow down long enough to hear your own thoughts—and actually feel proud of the woman you are?
That’s why I said yes to the Women’s Self-Discovery & Prayer Retreat. Honestly, I didn’t know exactly what to expect. I just knew I needed space. Space with no schedule, no noise, and no pressure. Just time to rest, to breathe, and to reconnect with what really matters.

Even at the start, many of us were still mentally back home. “Is my husband okay?” “Are the kids eating?” “Is everything under control?” But as the hours passed, something in us softened. We began to realize: we, too, deserve to be taken care of. We, too, deserve rest, peace, and quiet. And we, too, are worthy of love and care—just as much as we pour it into others.
Mornings of Stillness and Scenery
We started each day with coffee, tea, and a light breakfast, soaking in the stunning view of Center Hill Lake and the Upper Cumberland Mountains. The atmosphere was calm, full of subtle conversation, shared laughs, and simple joy. The sound of birds, the fresh air, the peaceful setting—it was like nature itself was inviting us to exhale.

After breakfast, we headed to the infinity pool area for a gentle morning stretch and guided meditation. For just seven minutes, we focused on something we rarely give time to: to breathe. That small act—simply breathing, with intention—reminded me how sacred and powerful stillness can be.

As the sun warmed our skin and the mountains stood quietly in the distance, we spent time by the pool just relaxing. Some of us journaled, some had casual conversations, and others just listened to the water and enjoyed the peace. It felt good to slow down. Our retreat host asked thoughtful questions that helped us reflect and led to some really meaningful conversations. We laughed, we got vulnerable, and we were honest. It wasn’t just about rest—it helped us reset. There’s something really comforting about being around other women who are also figuring things out and giving themselves permission to pause.
Women's Retreat: Time with God, Journals, and Sisterhood
Later, we were given journals filled with thoughtfully selected Bible verses. I never realized how healing journaling could be until I began writing honestly and vulnerably—just for me and God. I let go of so many worries I’d been carrying silently. Those pages became a safe place to release pain, reflect deeply, and feel God’s quiet comfort again.

The conversations with other women throughout the weekend reminded me that I’m not alone. We each have our own battles, but sharing space together allowed us to hold each other up in ways only women can.
Women's Retreat: Little Moments of Joy
The Retreat also featured outside activities, like all of us going to the local shopping strip full of local boutiques, and great food. It was light-hearted, but deeply affirming. We hyped each other up, celebrated our beauty and uniqueness, and reminded ourselves that it’s okay to spoil ourselves sometimes. Even something as small as a lemon bar or a really good sandwich became a moment to savor—free from distractions or guilt.
Our excursions were truly unforgettable. The retreat was a peaceful, soul-soothing escape that felt timeless. It wasn’t about the distance we covered—it was about the stillness. So many of us aren’t used to simply being—sitting still, listening to the gentle rhythm of the wind and water, soaking in the beauty of the wildlife, and allowing nature’s quiet to settle our busy minds. Sharing that tranquil moment with other women was a gift in itself.

Women's Retreats: Nights of Connection and Creativity
In the evenings, we gathered for a cozy sunset dinner with homemade pizzas or homemade chef’s dinner, wine or mocktails, and genuine conversation. One night, we painted how we felt—most of us choosing symbols of peace: sunrises, flowers, and flowing water. It was quiet, intentional, and surprisingly moving.
But the most powerful moments came around the bonfire under the stars. As the moon lit our faces, we opened up. About life. About womanhood. About pain and joy and everything in between. And in those raw, honest moments, I realized again: we’re all carrying something. We all need support. And we all deserve to be reminded how worthy and wonderful we are.

A New Kind of Full
I came home feeling lighter—like I’d let go of burdens I didn’t even realize I was holding. My mind was clearer. My heart was softer. And for the first time in a long time, I felt grounded in who I am and where I’m going. I could finally hear my own voice again… and maybe even God’s, too.
To the women who came—you inspired me. You reminded me that I’m not alone. To the women considering the next retreat—please come. You don’t have to be perfect, prepared, or even sure of what you need. Just come open. Come tired. Come as you are.
You are worth the rest.
You are worth the reset.
And you are worth the investment in yourself.
